Beautiful River
. . . It is a prayer to behold
these marchers with their
signs, one by one.
There is no river more
beautiful than this,
no water clearer than the
words they carry,
I pray this water flows
through our blood . . .

On All Alike
. . . The rain will wash away the sins of the fathers
bringing refreshing moisture to new ideas and ideals,
glad tidings of opportunity and growth, when no child
shall be denied the fulfillment of her dream, and all
shall live, if not in complete accord, then in the cessation
of wrongdoing to embrace a singular objective of unity . . .
Excerpt from the book, ENOUGH “Say Their Names . . .”
Anthem of the People
. . . We salt the earth with the
flavor of justice
Cast seeds of hope and love
to grow into the staff of life.
We are the Beloved
Community,
The ones we’ve been waiting
to come
to redeem our nation,
to change the world . . .
Excerpt from the book, “ENOUGH say their names.”
Sidelined No More
Hey you—yes you there, behind the mask of pandemic
Watching the decay of systemic
Racism as lines are formed and hands clasped
In reaction to clubs grasped
To stop the movement that has swelled—
Do you finally feel compelled . . .
Excerpt from the book, ENOUGH “Say Their Names . . .”
Kneeling, then Rising
“. . . Our eyes see only what we know,
a world white with color blindness.
So let me, my family, rise up now—
be the solo, not just the chorus.
Call it out, sing it loud, for it’s time
we all heal.”
Excerpt from the book, ENOUGH “Say Their Names . . .”
