Diane Ashburner
Diane Ashburner is a writer, editor and project manager who has spent a good portion of her life in China working cross-culturally. Diane believes we are forever changed by the experiences of our everyday lives. In her words, “They are the threads, both coarse and fine, that are woven into a beautiful tapestry representing our lives.” In her discourse and writings, she captures the nuances of life’s journey from a workaday as well as a philosophical perspective. Her culturally diverse and “meandering” journey has taken her through sundry careers in the corporate world. It has also led her to deep awakening experiences and personal reinvention as a result of living abroad. Diane is a proud mom, a life-long learner, and a supporter of the arts. For most, this might be enough, but this is not the case with “Diane the writer.” She pays keen attention to the human condition as an observer-participant and a global citizen. She brings this attentiveness to her advocations for photography, music, writing, and her “ambassadorship of joy.” Whether shoe manufacturing, buying for a retail company, being president of the expatriate community organization in Guangzhou, China, tour management, photographing the unique in places and spaces, or editing books, success ultimately lies in her critical thinking and management of the details. She enhances whatever she embraces, as the rich colors in her life’s tapestry, continue to be woven.
