In the memoir classes she teaches, Annis encourages senior adults to write their life stories for their families or just for themselves. She is an active member of Writers of Kern, a branch of the California Writers Club. Annis is honored to be part of this extraordinary project with a team of such fine poets. She says, “When the world looks bleak, poet Parneshia Jones asks, ‘What Would Gwendolyn Brooks Do?’ then reminds us to ‘Hold On everybody. Hold On because the poets are still alive—and writing.’ I feel, with this writing, we are fulfilling our mission.”
